The Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" aboard the International Space Station (ISS)

Three TAKENAKA’s CCD cameras are used as a monitoring device for two kinds of experimental facilities in the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) aboard the International Space Station (ISS) , one camera for Protein Crystallization Research Facility (PCRF) in which protein crystallization experiment is conducted in weightlessness conditions and the other two cameras for Solution Crystallization Observation Facility (SCOF) in which solution crystallization experiment is conducted eliminating the influence of natural convection current.

In these experiment facilities, TAKENAKA’s CCD cameras enable real-time monitoring of crystal growth in space and are continuing to function successfully.
